“Elemental” The theory that all life forms and material on Earth are made of the combination of the complex and smallest indivisible particles has been widely postulated in the early Eastern philosophies of Hinduism and Buddhism and then in ancient Greece with Democritus and his atomic model, where everything in the universe comes down to atoms and the void between them.

The concept of these elements resonates in Amnaj Wachirasut’s work. Looking at his paintings, you can almost see living and moving particles within the image, whether it is an abstraction or a landscape void of people. Yet there is something stirring within the ambience of his work. The artist believes in the soul of the elements surrounding us, everything is one and at the same time, forms different entities. Each affects and mirrors each other, transferring energy and keeping the universe in balance.

In Elemental, Wachirasut offers us work that both reflect his inner self and the outer force of the artist’s mind and body. Feeling, emotion and energy are transformed via artistic process through colors and texture on his canvas. Serenity, violence, desperation and contentment can all be read in this exhibition. Liberating himself from the finished work, the artist has left the artwork to freely and directly converse with viewers, transferring the control and interpreting power from the creator to the audience.
