ออรัม แกลเลอรี ได้รับเกียรติในการเปิดตัวนิทรรศการ “Shattered” โดยไซมอน เบอร์เกอร์ (Simon Berger) ศิลปินร่วมสมัยชาวสวิสผู้สร้างสรรค์งานจากกระจก ซึ่งงานนี้นับเป็นทั้งนิทรรศการศิลปินเดี่ยวครั้งแรกของแกลเลอรีและเป็นการเปิดตัวของศิลปินครั้งแรกในเอเชีย ที่จะนำเสนอผลงานที่มีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัวมาจัดแสดงกว่า 30 ชิ้น
จากการสร้างงานศิลปะแห่งท้องถนนที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากแผ่นไม้และเศษเหล็ก สู่วิธีสร้างสรรค์ผลงานอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ที่มีจุดเริ่มต้นจากการลองใช้กระจกรถยนต์ เกิดเป็นเทคนิคเฉพาะตัวที่เขาตั้งชื่อว่า ‘มอร์โฟเจเนสิส’ (Morphogenegsis) ถ่ายทอดความชื่นชอบในใบหน้าผู้คน ผ่านการสร้างรอยแตกบนกระจก เล่นกับแสงและความโปร่งใส ดึงสายตาของผู้ชมสู่แขนงรอยแตกร้าวนับร้อยที่พาดผ่านไปมา
ด้วยรูปแบบศิลปะที่แหวกขนบอย่างเห็นได้ชัด ผลงานของไซม่อน เบอร์เกอร์ ได้สะท้อนแนวคิดตาม ‘ทฤษฎีหน้าต่างแตก’ กระจกที่แตกจากการทุบเป็นเพียงสื่อกลางให้แสงสะท้อน ในขณะที่ค้อนไม่ได้นํามาใช้เพื่อทำลาย แต่เป็นอุปกรณ์ที่ทำให้แสงสะท้อนนั้นเด่นชัดขึ้น
‘ความวุ่นวายนั้นไม่ได้นำไปสู่อาชญากรรมเสมอไป หากแต่ความวุ่นวายยังสามารถเป็นอาณาจักรแห่งแสงสว่าง เป็นเรื่องของความหวัง ที่สุดท้ายแสงจะเผยให้เห็นจากการทุบให้แตกออก’

Aurum Gallery is extremely privileged to announce our first solo artist exhibition with ‘Shattered’ by Swiss contemporary glass artist Simon Berger on 1st – 31 July 2022.
Simon Berger is a contemporary glass artist exploring the material which he hammers, lacerates and cracks.
Wood and scrap metal inspired the artist’s first pieces created from the streets. His unique technique was born out of artistic explorations using car windscreens.
With a fascination for faces, he engraves portraits that play with light and transparency, plunging the gaze into a meander of lesions that he calls ‘Morphogenesis’.
In the form of apparent vandalism, his work provokes the theory of a ‘broken window’. The glass is a medium for light, while the hammer is not used for destruction but for amplifying the effect.
‘Disorder does not only lead to crime. Disorder can also be the kingdom of light. It’s about hope. Light emerges from the hammer blows’.
